First visit guide
What to bring, and what not to panic about.
Your first session is deliberately simple. You do not need to own a saber, understand the syllabus or arrive with martial arts experience.
Very little, honestly.
- Comfortable sports clothes, trainers and a bottle of water.
- That is literally it.
- We provide everything else you need, including lightsabers and protective equipment.
- If you already own a combat saber, you are welcome to bring it. We recommend using one of ours for your first few sessions, as many sabers are not suitable for safe sparring.
Do not worry about
- Having no martial arts background
- Knowing the terminology
- Owning equipment
- Being the fittest person in the room
Everyone starts as a beginner.
- You will work through the opening section of the syllabus, learning the core movements, safety principles and techniques that underpin everything else.
- Once you can move safely and confidently, you can grade to Apprentice.
- From there, the syllabus opens up. You can explore different lightsaber styles, take part in free sparring if you wish, work toward kata, or keep training at your own pace.
- There is no pressure to rush. Some people train for tournaments. Others train for fitness, confidence, friendship or simply because lightsabers are awesome. All of those reasons are equally valid.
Be safe. Be kind. Have fun.
Our goal is not simply to create good lightsaber fighters. It is to create a place where people can challenge themselves, improve at their own pace and genuinely enjoy the journey.
The rest will come.
